MONTEREY PARK (CNS) - A woman whose body was discovered by police near a freeway overpass in Monterey Park was identified Thursday.

The victim was identified by the Los Angeles Coroner's office as Alexandra Olener, 28. Her city of residency was not immediately known.

Officers dispatched at 1:36 a.m. Saturday to Atlantic Boulevard near the Pomona (60) Freeway overpass located the victim in the middle of the northbound lanes, according to Sgt. Arlene Chaidez of the Monterey Park Police Department.

"The subject was unresponsive and appeared to have been struck by an unknown vehicle," Chaidez said. "The Monterey Park Fire Department responded to the location and pronounced the subject dead at the scene."

Olener's cause of death was due to blunt traumatic injuries.
