
PORTER RANCH, Calif. (KNX) – A man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence following a deadly multi-vehicle crash near Porter Ranch Thursday night.

It happened around 11:50 p.m. on the westbound Ronald Reagan Freeway and Reseda Boulevard, according to City News Service.
Police told Fox 11 that the man was driving his wife and three kids when the he lost control of the car and crashed into an embankment. The crash damaged the car’s fuel line, which caused the car to burst into flames.
The outlet also said four off-duty officers with the Los Angeles Police Department saw the crash happened and sprung into action. Officials were able to rescue the man and the three children; however, the mother died on the scene.
The man and children were rushed to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
Following an investigation, California Highway Patrol officers determined that the man was “impaired’ and caused the collision, CBS L.A. reported. He was arrested and booked on suspicion DUI.
While emergency officials assisted in saving the family, three cars passing by got into a collision. At least two of the people from that collision were injured, according to multiple reports.
The crash caused the freeway to be closed for hours.
