Woman killed in Gardena hit-and-run identified

A woman who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run vehicle in Gardena was identified Tuesday.

Officers dispatched at about 11:55 p.m. Saturday to the 1600 block of Rosecrans Avenue, regarding a crash involving a pedestrian and vehicle, located a woman lying in the roadway, according to the Gardena Police Department.


The victim was identified as Shauntae Nicole Parker, 45, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office. Her city of residence was not immediately available.

Arriving paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

"Based on preliminary investigation, the driver was traveling eastbound on Rosecrans Avenue when their vehicle struck the pedestrian on Rosecrans Avenue," police said. "The vehicle driver did not remain at the scene and drove away."
