Woman killed on 101 freeway in Woodland Hills identified

An 18-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Woodland Hills was identified Monday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

The crash occurred about 5:15 a.m. Sunday on the eastbound freeway at Mulholland Drive, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A body was discovered lying in a middle lane, the CHP said.

The county medical examiner Monday identified the person as El Cajon resident Julie Welchance.

No further information was immediately available.
