The driver drove the wrong way for miles and without headlights as he sped along the Golden State (5) and the Ronald Reagan (118) freeways before driving onto the Hollywood (170) Freeway as he tried to elude pursuing Los Angeles Police Department patrol cars, KCAL9 reported.

KCAL reported the chase began after 10 p.m. Wednesday in response to a report that the driver of the pickup truck was armed with a gun and officers from the LAPD's Foothill Division began pursuing him in the Pacoima area.

After leading police on a high-speed chase, the driver abandoned the pickup in the Sun Valley area near Roscoe Boulevard and Webb Avenue and began running away. He was spotted next at Rincon Avenue and Pendelton Street before running into the backyard of a nearby home, where someone appeared to open the backdoor for him, according to KTLA5.

A short time later, KTLA5 reported the driver of the pickup, along with several other suspects, were taken into custody by police, just before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

It was not immediately known if the people detained by the LAPD along with driver will be charged as accomplices.
