Authorities sought the public's assistance Tuesday in locating a 73-year-old man last seen in an unincorporated area near Hawthorne and Inglewood.

Robert Stein was last seen in the 11400 block of South Normandie Avenue, near Imperial Highway, in the unincorporated Athens area around 12:45 p.m. Monday, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Deputies described Stein as a 5-foot-7-inch tall white man weighing 174 pounds with gray balding hair and brown eyes. He was seen wearing gray sweatpants, a dark gray Gap sweater and black shorts.

Anyone with information regarding Stein's whereabouts was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau Missing Persons Detail at 323-890-5500. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222- 8477.
