Paramedics rushed the toddler to the hospital where he died Monday.
Aurora police said the incident is being investigated as an accident but asked any witnesses to contact officers.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the boy’s family. We continue to work closely with the Aurora Fire and Police Departments as they investigate the accident," police said in a statement.
