While inflation may still be a top concern among Americans, a recent poll has found that most are adjusting, as 63% reported being in a good financial situation.

The figure comes from the Axios Vibes survey, conducted by The Harris Poll, which looked to assess the financial struggles gripping the nation.

While overall inflation has cooled from the record highs seen in 2022, the effects are still being felt, but Americans seem more optimistic than before.

Among the 63% who reported being in a “good” spot with their finances, 19% said they were “very good.”

The poll went on to say that people felt good about their economic prospects, with 66% thinking 2024 will be better than 2023. Eighty-five percent also shared that they thought they could change their personal financial situation for the better this year.

When it comes to living conditions, 77% of Americans, including renters, are happy with where they’re living, even with rising prices.

In fact, the poll found that 63% of renters say they aren’t interested in owning a home or having a mortgage.

Respondents also had a favorable view of the overall economy. This comes as the country’s GDP growth is the highest in the developed world and as inflation is headed back to optimal levels.

Job security was another factor looked at by the pollsters, with 63% describing their job security as “a sure thing.” More than half also said they would be okay if they lost their job tomorrow.

Those agreed with the sentiment that “my employers need me more than I need them.”

The survey was conducted from Dec. 15-17, 2023, including responses from more than 2,1210 adults.
