LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Dozens of Apple employees walked out Friday, as part of an organized walkout to demand better working conditions. The walkout was organized by "Apple Together," an organization of people self-described as Apple retail and corporate workers uniting to change the company.

On Thursday the group tweeted, calling all workers and patrons to support the movement by walking out of the stores on Christmas eve.

The group again tweeted Friday, saying it demands hazard pay for workers, living wage adjustment wages, protections from "abusive customers" and better protection for workers during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, among other demands.

Organizers of the walkout said around 50 Apple workers across three states called out of work Friday, according to The Huffington Post.

"Apple prides itself on its commitment to diversity, equity, and an environment where everyone can do their best work," the Apple Together group writes on its website. "But Apple has fallen short of this goal for so many of our current and former teammates, so we made space to share those stories with #AppleToo."

Earlier this week the organization said it had received some 500 responses from Apple employees sharing stories of racism, sexism, retaliation and bullying and harassment, according to 9To5Mac.

Janneke Parrish, a former corporate Apple employee and organizer of the walkout spoke with The Post about the walkout.

“Apple workers are fed up with being unheard,” Parrish said, adding that Friday’s action aimed to “make sure people are aware of how retail workers are being treated.”
