NEW ORLEANS, La. (AUDACY) — Arcade Fire is returning to the stage in support of Ukraine. The indie-rock band announced a last-minute benefit concert in New Orleans Sunday night, saying they'd perform at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the Toulouse Theatre. Admission for the show is on a "pay what you can" basis.
Wristbands (one per customer) for the show were available at the venue beginning at 10 a.m. Per the concert flyer, “all proceeds benefit the Plus 1 Ukraine relief fund.” Focused on social and environmental justice, the non-profit organization Plus 1 works specifically with the music industry, artists, events, and brands.
Monday's performance will be Arcade Fire’s first full-band show in more than two years. Arcade Fire performed collectively in November of 2020 at Mahalia Jackson Theater, located also in New Orleans. Most recently, band members Win Butler and Régine Chassagne played a private Las Vegas show for a crypto company in December.
Arcade Fire additionally teased an official comeback. Last week, the band posted a snippet of new music on their website, and on Monday they shared the title of a new song.
"Our new song 'The Lightning I, II' comes out on Thursday 2PM ET/11AM PT," the band tweeted, also sharing an image of several chords of the song. "Here’s the chords to make it a little easier to play. WE really missed you."
Previously, Arcade Fire released a 45-minute song titled “Memories Of The Age of Anxiety” for the meditation app Headspace last April. The band's latest studio album Everything Now was released in 2017.
