
A list of the top scams reported to the Better Business Bureau in 2023 was compiled recently, and the BBB has some tips on protecting yourself from the top three.

Online shopping scams remain the No. 1 scam and have claimed the most victims. Fraudsters have found ways to steal your money and information with fake websites, counterfeit items, phony texts and emails.
This brings us to the No. 2 scam: Phishing scams. When shopping online or reading emails, always check out the sender’s email address and closely check businesses before you send money.
Employment scams surged to No. 3 in 2023. Remote working and virtual interviews have made it easier for people to fall for these tactics. So, always be leery of any stranger trying to contact you.
