President Joe Biden made his first comments since the jury in the Derek Chauvin murder trial began deliberations.
"I'm praying the verdict is the right verdict," Biden told reporters at the White House Tueday, adding that he's only making the comments knowing the jury is sequestered. "I think it's overwhelming in my view."
Mr. Biden said he talked to members of George Floyd's family.
"I wanted to know how they were doing, just personally. We talked about personal things."
The President also says the family of George Floyd wants people to remain calm after the verdict is reached.
"They're calling for peace, and tranquility, no matter what that verdict is."
Mr. Biden said he was not going to discuss his talk with Floyd's family, but decided to do so after George Floyd's brother Philonise revealed that they had talked to NBC News.
