WASHINGTON (1010 WINS) -- President Joe Biden raised eyebrows Wednesday after indentation marks were spotted on his face while speaking to reporters Wednesday morning at the White House.

What's behind the markings? A CPAP machine to treat the 80-year-old's sleep apnea, White House spokesman Andrew Bates later said.

"Since 2008, the president has disclosed his history with sleep apnea in thorough medical reports. He used a CPAP machine last night, which is common for people with that history," Bates said.

CPAP machines are held into place on a person's face by a strap.

According to reports, another White House official said the president has begun using the machine in recent weeks.

In 2019, Biden's doctor wrote in a health record that sleep apnea “has been considered, but his symptoms have improved significantly after his sinus and nasal passage surgeries.”

Bloomberg was first to report the story.
