Bridesmaids and groomsmen say they went into debt, and regret it

It's the season for weddings. But for people invited to be a member of the bridal party, that can be a BIG financial burden.

More than half of the people who have been a member of a wedding party, say they felt pressured to spend more than they could afford. Almost 40% of bridesmaids, groomsmen and other bridal party members have regrets about what they spent.

Some say the pressure came from the bride, others say it was self-imposed.

Half of those surveyed by Lending Tree says they took on debt.

The Lending Tree report found that on average, bridesmaids, groomsmen and others say they spent $825 on attire, events, and the wedding itself.  Many say travel was a big chunk, including to bachelor and bachelorette parties.

By the way, roughly 1 in 10 are no longer friends with the bride or groom.
