Some say the pressure came from the bride, others say it was self-imposed.
Half of those surveyed by Lending Tree says they took on debt.
The Lending Tree report found that on average, bridesmaids, groomsmen and others say they spent $825 on attire, events, and the wedding itself. Many say travel was a big chunk, including to bachelor and bachelorette parties.
