People looking forward to setting sail aboard the Carnival Firenze cruise ship this October and November recently received some disappointing news – their trips had been cancelled.

Fox News Digital said Carnival Cruise Line shared a statement explaining that the sailings scheduled between Oct. 12 and Nov. 16 were canceled due to “changes to itinerary plans.” According to the outlet, 11 total Firenze sailings were canceled.

“Carnival insists it’s working with customers to find comparable trips, but for many the damage is already done,” The New York Post reported.

Fox News Digital’s report said that the cancellations are part of a redeployment effort. Specifically, the cruise line plans to redeploy the Firenze from Long Beach, Calif., to Miami, Fla., early next year, followed by a permanent move to New York City, N.Y., by summer 2027. This ship sails to the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada/New England, the Caribbean, Mexico and South America.

Per the Carnival website, the ship has an Italian theme, including Italian restaurants (as well as a Mexican option and a burger joint and more), a Tuscan Lounge and “Terrazza staterooms.” Its guest capacity is 4,126.

“Guests booked on the affected sailings, as well as their travel advisors, have been notified directly. We have apologized to our impacted guests and are offering them the option to rebook another,” said Carnival’s statement about the canceled cruises. These three- and four-night cruises were all due to depart from Long Beach.

“It’s definitely a disappointment for customers who are booked on the existing sailings that get canceled,” said Gene Sloan, cruise director at The Points Guy. “But given the sailings on Carnival Firenze are 7-8 months out, it probably doesn’t affect a huge number of people,” he told Fox News Digital.

Some passengers will be able to book a similar voyage, while others will receive a full refund, said the outlet. Those who schedule a comparable sailing by March 25 will receive a $50 per person onboard credit, according to Yahoo Travel. After the deadline, reservations will be automatically canceled.

“Carnival also notified booked guests this week of another change in California,” Fox News Digital said. “Several 2026 voyages on the Carnival Panorama will have a revised schedule implemented.”

Carnival Panorama also departs from Long Beach. It visits Mexican Riviera ports, including Mazatlán, La Paz and Cabo San Lucas. Fox News Digital said that in recent weeks, many cruise lines have been thrown into chaos,” after an operation in Mexico to take out cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera (known as “El Mencho”). Conflict in Iran has also impacted cruise lines and has ramped up the price of oil, which could make cruises more expensive.
