For the first time in 14 years, Casey Anthony -- who was found not guilty in the 2008 disappearance and death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee -- is conducting a televised interview in a new docuseries where she promises to "set the record straight."
Even before the three-part series airs, not everyone is convinced of what she has to say.
Former Circuit Judge Belvin Perry Jr., who presided over Anthony's trial for murder, recently addressed the bold claims Anthony makes in the series over Caylee's death.
The docuseries claims that Anthony's father George allegedly molested her and Caylee, and that killed Caylee and then put her in the family pool to make it look like she drowned to cover up the abuse. Her father has vehemently denied the accusations.
Perry Jr. told TMZ he doesn't believe the latest story from Anthony, now 36, and claims that she has shifted the blame to many people throughout the trial and after.
Perry Jr., now retired from the bench, also believes that there was no evidence to suggest molestation or that Caylee allegedly drowned in their family pool.
"Perry Jr. thinks Casey's story hasn't been consistent and believes she was caught in a few lies that undermine her credibility. He says she blamed a babysitter for kidnapping Caylee earlier," TMZ reported. "The judge also said there's some damning evidence... namely, the smell of death inside Casey Anthony's car trunk at the time Caylee disappeared."
"Long story short... the judge also doesn't think her new story lines up with the facts of the case," TMZ said.
"Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies" will be released on Peacock on November 29th.
According to the Peacock synopsis: Considered one of the first "trials of the century" that polarized conversation in living rooms across America, the Casey Anthony case is one that still leaves more questions than answers. There have been several movies and documentaries made to fill in the gaps, and yet, the woman at the center of it all remains the biggest mystery. Throughout the exclusive three-part documentary series, Casey Anthony finally tells her side of the story and addresses the public that has made so many assumptions for the past 13 years.
Anthony has only previously spoken out once on the case, in a 2017 interview with the Associated Press, which was not on camera. During the interview, Anthony acknowledged that the public didn't like her, saying they found her guilty before she had her day in court -- but claimed she didn't care.
"I don't give a s--- about what anyone thinks about me, I never will," she said. "Based off what was in the media, I understand the reasons people feel about me. I understand why people have the opinions that they do.
"I didn't do what I was accused of, but I fought for three years," she continued. "Not just for me, but for my daughter."
Caylee was reported missing in July 2008, 31 days after she was last seen. In October, Anthony was indited on several charges, including first-degree murder. In December, six months after she was reported missing, Caylee's decomposed remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony's home in Orlando.
Following a highly-publicized trial, Anthony was acquitted of murder in 2011. She was, however, found guilty of providing false information to law enforcement and served roughly three years in prison while awaiting trial.
Anthony admitted to the Associated Press that she lied to police: about being employed at Universal Studios; about leaving Caylee with a baby sitter; about telling two people, both of them imaginary, that Caylee was missing; about receiving a phone call from Caylee the day before she was reported missing.
In the new docuseries, Anthony says "I lied, but no one asked why."
Prosecutors alleged that Anthony used chloroform on her daughter and suffocated her by putting duct tape over the little girl’s mouth and nose, CNN reported. Her defense team argued that Caylee accidentally drowned in the family's pool.
