NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Charges against Amy Cooper, the white woman who called police on a black birdwatcher in Central Park in an exchange that went viral were dismissed Tuesday after she completed a restorative justice program.
The program reported to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office that Amy Cooper attended five sessions and was a "moving experience," according to prosecutor Joan Illuzzi.
The educational program on race was meant to teach Cooper that "racial identities shape our lives but we cannot use them to harm ourselves and others," Illuzzi said during a brief virtual court appearance in which Cooper joined by videoconference.
Cooper's record will be sealed "consistent with every other dismissal."
Cooper was walking her dog in Central Park May 25 when she falsely called police and claimed that bird watcher Christian Cooper, an African-American man threatened her and her dog.
