Nowadays, it seems like every company large and small is trying to find ways to incorporate artificial intelligence into their business model, even the food and drink industries.
So what if computers don’t have tastebuds. That doesn’t mean they can’t come up with a superior recipe, does it? One giant in the soda aisle is about to find out the answer to that question.
Coca-Cola has announced their latest flavor was co-created through the combination of manpower and microchips. Coca-Cola Y3000 is first being launched as a “zero sugar” option, but the company says a full-sugar version will be available “in select markets.”
In a press release, Coca-Cola said that the new Y3000 version is designed to “mostly” taste like the Coke you’re used to, but with something extra added.
For that something extra, Coke surveyed consumers to determine what flavors people “associate with the future.” The company then used AI to help them pair flavors and create flavor profiles.
For now, the Y3000 will only be available in the U.S.
