Deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office added pizza delivery to their list of accomplishments this week when a crash threatened to leave a customer with cold slices.

“Cold pizza? Not on our watch,” said the law enforcement agency in a Wednesday Facebook post.

It explained that deputies assisting with the crash pitched in when one of the drivers said they were in the middle of a pizza delivery.

“With the address close and knowing how disappointing it is when your order is late, deputies couldn't help but rectify the situation,” said the post.

According to Middleby, around 3 billion pizzas are sold in the U.S. every year. With the rise of online shopping, even more delivery drivers have joined the classic pizza delivery workers on the streets, increasing the risk of traffic incidents, Lawlor White & Murphy law firm noted.

Last month, Fox Business reported on another delivery-driver involved crash. In that case, the customer actually came out to the scene of the accident to pick up their food.

Video shared by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office shows a deputy taking the insulated bag from the accident site and into a patrol vehicle. This dashcam footage brings viewers along for the ride to the customer, who indicated he bought the pie from Rizzoli’s in Clearwater, Fla.

“I definitely appreciate it,” the customer can be heard saying.

“Of course, buddy,” said the deputy.
