For many dog owners, there is nothing scarier than their canine companion going missing. Even with microchips to track them, and social media to help spread the word, it’s no guarantee the dog makes it home.
One Texas man had to deal with that feeling recently after his dog went missing in Galveston Bay, but luckily the dog that never leaves his side managed to swim back to shore and find its way home.

Shrimp Boat Captain Keith "Kiwi" Soffes recently brought his dog Monster out to Galveston Bay, but when his dog unexpectedly fell overboard, the Captain didn’t know what to do.
According to Fox 4 News, the dog swam over five miles, eventually making it back to shore. Now, Soffes says Monster will be back on the boat soon wearing a life jacket and a tracking device. Luckily, the shrimp boat captain has his first mate back.
