An SUV crashed into an Apple Store in Hingham, Massachusetts, on Monday morning, resulting in the death of one person and 16 more being injured, according to authorities.

In a press release, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz shared that a 2019 Toyota 4Runner hit the store at approximately 10:45 a.m.

The car went through the glass, striking multiple people inside and outside the store. Hingham Fire Chief Steve Murphy shared that a few people were pinned to the wall.

Before first responders could arrive, bystanders who had seen what had happened began delivering first aid, according to Murphy.

Those injured were said to have head trauma, “mangled limbs,” and life-threatening injuries, according to the South Shore Hospital.

Officials did not elaborate on the driver, but they did say that the driver is “with police.”

Investigators are currently looking into what caused the crash and if there was any intent, according to Cruz.

"This morning was an unthinkable morning, and people are trying to get through it and process what happened," Cruz said.
