There's something heartbreaking and touching about an elderly person forced to work hard to feed themselves and loved ones, and it's one of the rare things that makes the internet come alive with goodwill.
That was proven true again when Dan the 79-year-old delivery man was on his way to a home with a pizza they'd ordered and realized the store was out of Diet Coke.
Here's how the recipient described what happened next on Go Fund Me.
"On a busy Friday night, we ordered dinner from Domino’s, along with a Diet Coke. While we were waiting, we got a voicemail from our delivery driver, Dan, letting us know they were out of Diet Coke… but he’d gladly bring something else if we let him know what we wanted.
We tried calling the store back, but he had already left for delivery. No big deal, we figured we’d just take whatever substitution came with the order.
But when Dan arrived, he surprised us. He apologized again for the inconvenience and then told us… he had stopped at the store himself to pick up Diet Coke for us.
On a busy Friday night. During deliveries. Completely out of his own time and effort. We were honestly blown away. That level of care and kindness is rare these days."
The recipient shared a Ring picture of Dan the delivery man on TikTok with the description of a man who went above and beyond, and it went viral. SEE IT HERE.
The internet reacted with grace and kindness and starting donating money to give Dan the biggest tip of his life. So far, it's up to nearly $28,000.
