A body found in a Wyoming national forest has been confirmed to be that of 22-year-old Gabby Petito. An attorney representing the Petito family confirmed the identity of the remains to Insider on Tuesday.
The FBI's Denver Field Office has also announced that the Teton County coroner's office concluded the remains belonged to the 22-year-old Long Island native.
Petito's boyfriend, 23-year-old Brian Laundrie, has been named a person of interest in the case. He has reportedly not cooperated with investigators and his whereabouts are currently unknown.
Police in North Port, Florida, where Laundrie's parents reside, have launched a search of a nearby 24,000-acre nature preserve. It is believed Laundrie may be hiding there.
