FBI arrests judge for allegedly obstructing ICE

“Just NOW, the FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on charges of obstruction – after evidence of Judge Dugan obstructing an immigration arrest operation last week,” said Kash Patel, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in a Friday X post.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Dugan, 65, has had a three-decade long career in the state’s legal field since graduating from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1987. She is in her ninth year serving as a Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge with a term expiring in 2028. For much of her career, Dugan has worked for the poor and vulnerable and she has served as executive director of Catholic Charities and as a former president of the Milwaukee Bar Association.

Sources told the Sentinel that she was under federal investigation for allegedly helping an undocumented immigrant avoid arrest by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers at the courthouse, per a report published this week.

“We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject – an illegal alien – to evade arrest, said Patel. “Thankfully our agents chased down the perp on foot and he’s been in custody since, but the Judge’s obstruction created increased danger to the public. We will have more to share soon.”

President Donald Trump has made cracking down on immigration a key goal of his second term in office. Since his inauguration in January, the president has also drawn criticism for butting heads with judges, with some experts voicing concern that he is flouting the checks and balances established in the U.S. Constitution.
