LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Jeopardy! has made it official with Michael Davies, with the decorated producer announcing in a blog post Thursday that he's accepted the role of showrunner for the beloved game show.
"Today, I am delighted to announce that I have accepted Sony’s offer to become the show’s full time Executive Producer," Davies wrote in a Jeopardy! blog post. "I am both honored and humbled by the faith the studio and the staff have put in me."

Davies was hired on as interim showrunner following the firing of Mike Richards, the game show's long-time showrunner who was originally slated to take over as host following the death of Alex Trebek.
Now that he's permanently involved in the show's future, Davies said he hopes in the next few months to share plans about what's next for Jeopardy!
Davies is the president of television company Embassy Row, and has more than three decades of experience "in the business."
"I've only ever produced what I’ve developed. I’ve never been given a show to produce, let alone a legacy," Davies wrote. "The opportunity to step in and help out on Jeopardy! [initially] on an interim basis has been such an unexpected pleasure."
Davies went on to write that the long-time game show — which originally premiered in 1964 — has a team that is beyond passionate about the excellence the show has come to be known for. But it's also the fans that make things successful.
"Most of all, Jeopardy! has a fan base like nothing else I have seen in television outside sports. I am honestly so inspired by your attention to detail and the depth of your love for the show, its legacy, and its future," Davies wrote.
"We don’t always agree. You don’t always agree! But we all share the same goal: to see the show we love be as good as it can be."
