LOS ANGELES (KNX) — ABC’s New Year’s Eve lineup will look a little different on Friday night, now that LL Cool J has tested positive for COVID-19. The performer confirmed the news in a statement Wednesday, saying he would no longer be performing in “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.”

“I know it’s disappointing to the millions of fans but my test came back positive for COVID, which means I’ll no longer be able to perform as scheduled at ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,'” LL Cool J said in a statement shared with Variety.

“We were ready and I was really looking forward to ringing in 2022 in my hometown in a special way, but for now I wish everyone a healthy and happy New Year. The best is yet to come!”

The hip-hop star is the second Rockin’ Eve performer that has had to cancel on ABC’s 50th anniversary special. Chlöe was set to perform her song “Have Mercy” but is no longer performing — though no reason has been shared with the public about why she is no longer in the lineup.

Ryan Seacrest is set to return to the Times Square stage as host, along with co-host Liza Koshy and “Powerball Correspondent” Jessie James Decker.

Still set to perform are Journey, Karol G, Avril Lavigne and Travis Barker, French Montana, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis with Windser, AJR and Daisy The Great and One Republic, along with several others. To see the full lineup, click here.
