A new TikTok challenge is leading to problems in bathrooms across the nation. Students are taking part in the "bathroom challenge" trend by destroying property, sometimes throwing everything and anything they can into toilets.
In the Bay Area, ABC7 News reports the damage is so bad in some bathrooms that they may soon need to be closed.
"The kids are destroying the bathrooms, the soap dispenser, they're destroying stuff," Dawnette Brenner, a middle school instructor, told ABC7.
The trend isn't just affecting California. Reports of severe damage are also coming out of Denver, Texas and Kansas. In Wichita, Kan., some schools are already taking steps to prevent the damage, according to KWCH News.
New policies were announced this week due to vandalism, theft and graffiti taking place in restrooms.
Across the board school administrators are encouraging parents to talk with their children, especially in middle school and high school, about the consequences of taking part in the kinds of challenges that disrupt schools and destroy property.
