After more than five hours of issues Tuesday, communications platform Slack announced that all was resolved in a tweet shared at 11:24 a.m. Since the coronavirus pandemic began, Slack has become a primary link between remote employees and their colleagues — making Tuesday's error a major issue for many users.

The outage was first reported by tracking website Downdetector early Tuesday morning, as more than 10,000 remote employees found that they couldn't log in to their accounts. Outages were reported around the world, from Texas to Germany, according to the website.

Just before 6:45 a.m., Slack posted on Twitter that some "may be experiencing issues with loading Slack. We'll provide a status update once we have more information. We're sorry for the disruption."

According to the company's status page, the platform was "not loading for some users," but not much more was shared about the ongoing issue.

Just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday Slack shared that it was "seeing signs of improvement" and suggested that users try reloading Slack and a cache reset.

By 11:24 a.m., five hours after the outages first began, Slack updated users that all issues were resolved and suggested the following for any users still experiencing login issues:

"All impacted customers should now be able to access Slack. You may need to reload Slack (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R) to see the fix on your end. If that doesn't work, try clearing cache (Help > Troubleshooting > Clear Cache and Restart from the app menu). Thanks for bearing with us and we apologize for the disruption to your work day!"

The last major outage the app had was a little over a year ago, just after employees were getting back to work after the holidays last year on Jan. 4.
