A United Airlines passenger became sick on a plane after being on a flight headed to Los Angeles from Orlando earlier this week.
The plane was diverted to New Orleans Monday where the man was taken to a hospital and he died.
Now the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention wants the passenger manifest of the flight, according to a story in The Washington Post.
"CDC is in the process of collecting information and proceeding according to our standard operating procedures to determine if further public health action is appropriate,” spokeswoman Caitlin Shockey said in an email in the WaPo story. “To protect the privacy of the individual, we are not providing this information to the public.”
He apparently had filled out a form saying he was not infected with COVID-19 and had no symptoms.
According to the WaPo story, some social media users reported that the man's wife said he had coronavirus-like symptoms. In a statement to the Post, United said no medical professionals confirmed that - they were informed he died of a cardiac arrest.
The airline says it has given the passenger manifest to the proper health authorities and its flight attendants are being quarantined.
