
The world may know him as Michael Keaton, but for many in the Pittsburgh-area suburbs of Kennedy and Robinson, they know him by his birth name, Michael Douglas.
That’s where the actor known for roles like “Batman” and “Beetlejuice” was born and raised.

He attended St. Malachy School and graduated from Montour High School. He also worked with Fred Rogers before making it big in Hollywood.
When he began trying to find a career in showbusiness, Keaton was unable to use the name Douglas because of actor Michael Douglas and talk show host Mike Douglas.
That is expected to change when you see future projects featuring the Pittsburgh-born actor.
Keaton tells People Magazine in their newest issue he plans on using a mix of his real and stage names, Michael Keaton Douglas.
Keaton, or Douglas, or Keaton Douglas, told People that he was going to use the hybrid name in a movie he directed and starred in earlier this year, “Knox Goes Away,” but “forgot” because of the “stress of making the movie.”

Keaton wears the love of his hometown out in the open. He is commonly seen on talk shows wearing a Pittsburgh sports hat or talking about the Pirates, Penguins and Steelers.
Keaton is celebrating his 73rd birthday today (September 5). He not only makes the people of Robinson and Kennedy proud, but the entire City of Pittsburgh.
