Magdalena Banuelos, 48, will spend 12 years in federal prison for turning her young kids into drug mules. They were put on a plane in New Mexico with their suitcases full of fentanyl-laced pills.
They flew into Love Field on May 31, 2022. The plan could have worked, except it killed the father of the children. He met the children and was intended to be on the receiving end of the pills. But he made the fatal mistake of taking a pill.
He ducked into a restroom but never came out. He was found dead a short time later, the kids still waiting in the airport lobby. Banuelos pleaded guilty to drug charges for the 12-year prison term.
The children were aged 8 and 10 at the time of the criminal incident, aged 10 and 12 now. By the time their mom gets out of prison, they'll be 22 and 24 years old.
