Someone will soon have a lot of decisions to make on how they’ll spend their new fortune, as a winning ticket for Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot was sold in New Jersey.
Tuesday’s winning numbers were 7, 11, 22, 29, 38, and the yellow ball 4, the lottery shared.
Lucky for the New Jersey player who purchased the winning ticket, they were the sole winner of the jackpot, meaning they didn’t have to split the money.
The last time the jackpot was won was Dec. 8, 2023, meaning Tuesday’s winner is the first of this year.
Now, the winner will have the choice of annuitized payments made over 30 years or a lump sum payment of $537.5 million before taxes.
While only one player can say they won the billion-dollar jackpot, 13 tickets sold on Tuesday night matched all five white numbers, earning players at least $1 million, or $2 million if they played the game multiplier.
One ticket in New York won $2 million, and the remaining 12 were sold in California, Colorado, Florida (2), Georgia (2), Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York (2) and Ohio.
The Mega Millions jackpot will now reset to $20 million, but its brother lottery is still growing.
The Powerball has grown to an estimated $865 million jackpot, with a payout of the same annuitized options or the lump sum of $416.4 million.
The next drawing for the Powerball is on Wednesday at 8 p.m. PST.
