Good news for travelers! Starting September 20th you can renew your passport online if it expired within the last five years.

This system-wide update from the State Department allows you to complete the process from home, including taking your own passport photo with your phone.

"We remember back in 2021-22 in the last years the actual wait came up to between three and four months!" says travel expert Peter Greenberg.

With the new system in place, the potential wait time could be down to six to seven weeks, this is a big improvement over the long delays seen in recent years. It will be faster, more convenient, and helps you avoid visiting a passport office.
