GLENDALE, AZ (KNX) – Police are investigating the shooting of at least three people at an outlet mall in Glendale, Ariz. Wednesday. The incident was reported around 2:40 p.m. at the Tanger Outlets near N 95th Avenue and W Coyotes Boulevard, police said.
While police initially said at least one person was injured, they later gave an update indicating that five people — including three juveniles — were injured. Three were taken to the hospital, with one of them in critical condition before being reported as stable, police said.
Officials say they are still working to identify more victims as well as suspects, according to ABC 15 in Arizona.
While initially thought to be a random shooting, Glendale Police said it was an isolated incident that began as a verbal argument between two groups and culminated in shots fired.
Just after 3:40 p.m., Glendale Police said primary searches for additional shooters were done and that assistsing agencies were conducting secondary searches around the outlets.
Businesses in the area were asked to lockdown for several hours as police investigated. That lockdown was lifted around 5:30 p.m., ABC 15 reported.
