Porto's Bakery opens new Northridge location

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Beloved local bakery Porto's opened its sixth location Tuesday, opening its doors for the first time in the San Fernando Valley with its new Northridge store.

"Northridge is officially open!" Porto's wrote in a Facebook post with photos of a crowded opening day. "Come on in, our team is ready to bake you some sweet memories with you!"

Their new location is 19467 Nordhoff St., Eater L.A., in the former Sears automotive space of the Northridge Fashion Center.

With 2,700 square feet of space, there's sure to be plenty of room for all the favorites, including the guava cheese rolls.

Speaking with KTLA at their grand opening, Betty Porto, a co-owner along with her siblings, said each one of the family's locations is like their babies, important and so loved.

The family sought to enter Northridge when they realized that many customers from the city were often in their already overflowing Burbank cafe and bakery.

"From the moment we decided to call this amazing community our newest home, we knew this location was going to be special," Porto's wrote in an Instagram post.

"You welcomed us with open arms, you never missed a farmer’s market, and you waited patiently while we worked through unprecedented times to bring our family bakery to your neighborhood."

The family continued on by saying their Northridge team is ready to press some Cuban sandwiches, pour some Cafecito, and "bake life's memories with you."
