Following last year's ceremony, hailed as one of the most inclusive in Rock Hall history, this year's eclectic list of nominees mirror 2021's, with Detriot rapper Eminem, U.K. synth-rockers Duran Duran, singer/songwriter Pat Benatar, and Alt-mainstay Beck leading the pack.
Also included in this year's nominees list are Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, Rage Against the Machine, DEVO, Dionne Warwick, Eurythmics, A Tribe Called Quest, Kate Bush, Judas Priest, Fela Kuti, MC5, and the New York Dolls.
Eminem, who will be performing at this year's Super Bowl Halftime, is the sole first-year eligible nominee this year, whose debut album arrived in 1996. Rock Hall requirements state that an artist or band must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior. Dionne Warwick, RATM, New York Dolls, Fela Kuti, DEVO, and Kate Bush return after being nominated in 2021.
Fan voting is now open daily at vote.rockhall.com and in person at the museum in Cleveland, OH. Five of the most-voted artists will ultimately make up the Class of 2022, to be revealed in May. The ceremony itself is yet to be scheduled.
