Taco Bell is joining the meal deal frenzy, launching a $7 value box as its fast food competitors also debut value meals to better appeal to inflation-hardened consumers.
In an announcement on Thursday, Taco Bell shared that its new $7 Luxe Cravings Box will include full-sized menu items, offering consumers a deal on some of their favorites from the chain.
The items included in the new box are the Chalupa Supreme, Beefy 5-Layer Burrito, Double Stacked Taco, chips and nacho cheese sauce, and a medium drink.
The new Luxe Cravings Box will only be around for a limited time. But, Taco Bell North America’s chief marketing officer, Taylor Montgomery, says the chain will be “giving consumers our most craveable items at an affordable price point.”
Audacy reported earlier this week that chains like McDonald’s, Burger King, Starbucks, and Wendy’s have also recently launched meal deals as Americans opt for less expensive options, with inflation continuing to take its toll.
Foot traffic at fast-food restaurants has continued to slow over the past few weeks, with fast-casual options like Chipotle being the only shining light in the industry.
While many have decided to forgo fast food due to rising prices over the last five years, restaurants have placed the blame on higher labor and food costs.
Beyond the world of fast food, retailers have also been fighting to win over consumers, with Target announcing last month that it would reduce the prices of more than 1,500 popular items beginning immediately, with plans to cut prices for more than 5,000 brand-name and house items.
Around the same time, Walmart launched a new food brand aimed at attracting younger consumers looking for deals that don’t have any ties to current brands.
The new brand “Bettergoods” is being rolled out nationwide this year with 300 new products, and Walmart shared that items will range in price from $2 to $15, with most of them coming in around $5.
