Renowned designer, illustrator and author Eric Carle has passed away at the age of 91, according to a statement from his family.
Carle is best known for the 1969 book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar,' as well as his work on 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?' 'The Grouchy Ladybug,' and 'The Very Busy Spider'.
Carle passed away on May 23, according to the family.
No cause of death was given.
