Texas A&M's School of Public Health conducted a study of adolescents who used e-cigarettes but never smoked conventional tobacco. The study used data from the Centers for Disease Control and included information on more than 32,000 kids in the US, including 3,000 right here in Texas.
The study showed kids who vaped were more likely to develop asthma. It claims while vaping has fewer toxins than regular cigarettes, there are still a lot of chemicals in e-cigs that can contribute to respiratory illnesses like asthma.
The number of teens vaping has increased significantly over the years. The study indicates there's a need for better education and stricter regulations to help reduce e-cigarette use.
