The incident happened at LaGuardia International Airport in New York City, according to TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein.
“Yes, it’s a real grenade. Fortunately it was inert,” Farbstein wrote in a post on X that included a picture of the device.
The individual isn’t in any trouble, being that the grenade was inactive. However, the device was confiscated before the passenger was allowed to board the plane.
According to the TSA, the man told police that he acquired the grenade at a museum. It is now set to be used as a training aid when working with TSA officers.
