LOS ANGELES (KNX) — At-home COVID test kits are in high demand as the number of cases continues to rise around the United States and the Omicron variant continues to spread. As a result, Wednesday it was announced that major retailers like Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and Walmart are limiting the number of at-home COVID tests that can be purchased by one person.

“To ensure equitable access to tests both in store and digitally, we’ve added a limit of six test kits per purchase,” CVS said in a statement shared by The New York Post. The retail company added that it’s working “around the clock to provide stores with inventory of the five over-the-counter COVID-19 tests” offered.

Walmart has also set a limit on the number of tests that can be purchased. In a statement Tuesday the company said it will set a limit of eight tests per online order, the Post continued.

At-home COVID tests range anywhere from $26 to $950 for a 10-pack at Walmart. Prices are similar on Amazon and at Walgreens and CVS — which offers some tests for $10.

In a statement shared by the Post, Walgreens its stores are seeing “unprecedented demand for related testing and vaccine services and products,” and added that it’s working with suppliers “to make sure customers have access to self-test kits through the holidays.”
