YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (KNX) — A 25-year-old woman is recovering after being attacked by a bison in Yellowstone National Park.
The woman, visiting the national park from Ohio, approached the bison Monday morning while it was walking near a boardwalk at Black Sand Basin, according to park officials. When she came within 10 feet of the animal, it reportedly gored her and tossed her 10 feet in the air.

She suffered a puncture wound and other injuries, the National Park Service revealed. Paramedics responded, rushing her in an ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
"The incident remains under investigation, and there is no additional information to share," the park service said. "Wildlife in Yellowstone National Park are wild and can be dangerous when approached. When an animal is near a campsite, trail, boardwalk, parking lot, or in a developed area, give it space."
Park officials said two other people had also come dangerously close to the same bison. The park requires visitors stay more than 25 yards away from bison.
Authorities did not identify the injured woman and said the incident remained under investigation. Her condition is not currently known.
