Airport officials are reporting that a box of giraffe feces was recently seized at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Twin Cities' airport say that a woman flying from Kenya to MSP on September 29 was stopped in customs after declaring to have "giraffe poop".

Border agents searched the woman's luggage and found a small box containing multiple pieces of giraffe poop as well as a shell.

The woman said she planned to make a necklace from the droppings.

Customs and Border Patrol have said the animal feces from Kenya could contain multiple illnesses including African Swine Fever, Newcastle Disease, and potentially others.

According to reports, the woman won’t face sanctions because she declared the feces and gave it to Customs. The agency’s agriculture specialists destroyed the giraffe poop.

“There is a real danger with bringing fecal matter into the U.S.,” Customs and Border Protection’s Chicago field Director LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke said in a statement. “If this person had entered the U.S. and had not declared these items, there is high possibility a person could have contracted a disease from this jewelry and developed serious health issues.”
