Wrong-way driver triggers fatal crash on 210 freeway in Monrovia

MONROVIA (CNS) - One person was killed and another person was injured Sunday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Monrovia that was triggered by a wrong-way motorist, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 3:10 a.m. on the westbound freeway at North Allen Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol, which said a vehicle was reported going eastbound in the westbound lanes.

Paramedics rushed one person to a hospital, according to a Monrovia Fire Department dispatcher. The condition of that person was not immediately known.

A Sigalert issued at 3:25 a.m. closing the carpool lane and the No. 1 lane of the westbound freeway was canceled at 7:47 a.m.

No further information was immediately available.
