Paulina Porizkova is embracing transparency and honesty once again.
The 56-year-old model posed for a melancholy selfie baring her true, authentic self, make-up free. In the photo, Porizkova is seen lounging on the couch in a casual robe with a fresh face and undone hair.

She wrote a story under the photo about an encounter she had with a fan who was inspired by her mission to destroy the stigma against aging in women.
“I was recently in a restaurant, and as I came back from the ladies room to go back to my table, a young woman at the bar stopped me. ‘Are you- are you…’ she was fumbling around for a name. I wanted to get back to my table, so I decided to make it easy on her. I smiled and nodded ‘yes, I am’ as I tried to walk past,” Porizkova said on Tuesday.
She continued, “And then she said it. ‘YOU’RE THE LADY WHO CRIES ON INSTAGRAM!’ That stopped me. This woman was much too young to know me as a model. She knows me as the lady who cries on Instagram.”
Porizkova said that the young woman then thanked her for “being honest and sharing painful stuff, because it freed her to do the same.”
“It released her shame of feeling guilty for having a range of emotions, and for not having to pretend,” she wrote. Porizkova said it was the “best compliment” she has gotten in years.
She took to Instagram again on Wednesday to share another positive message on the beauty of aging gracefully.
In a post for Los Angeles Magazine, Porizkova wrote, “Acceptance. That is a gift of age if one is open to learning. What I refuse to accept is the dismissal of us, amazing women coming into our own, by a society that deems us insignificant if we’re no longer baby-making factories. THAT is simply unacceptable.”
