President Joe Biden’s approval ratings have risen as of late, and the Democrats did historically well in the recent mid-term election for a party in power during the first term of a Presidency, but that still doesn’t mean Biden’s 2024 re-election prospects can be considered strong.
According to a new CNBC All-America Economic Survey, 70% of respondents said they did not want Biden seek to re-election.
The largest factor in their decision is age. Biden is already the oldest President of all time, having just turned 80 last month. He’ll be nearly 82 when the 2024 Presidential election takes place.
Of course Republicans lead the way in their dislike of Biden, with 86% of Republican respondents panning the idea of a second Biden campaign. But even a majority of Democrats are giving Biden the cold shoulder, with 57% also saying they don’t want to see Biden run again.
As for Biden’s chief Presidential nemesis for the time being, Donald Trump’s numbers aren’t much better.
The former President who Biden ousted from the White House isn’t much younger at 76 years old, and was the oldest President ever prior to Biden’s election.
61% of all respondents said they did not want to see a third Trump Presidential campaign.
Could both parties opt for new blood on the ballot even though both have viable candidates with Presidential experience and availability for a second term? That’s what the next two years will tell us.
