
They may be taking control of Congress on January 3, but one local Republican lawmaker says infighting could lead to an "epic embarrassment".
Representative Guy Reschenthaler, who represents the 14th District of PA, tells The Big K Morning Show, there are currently 5 GOP members who will not vote California Rep. Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House.
Those members are Reps. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), Matt Rosendale (R-Mont.) and Bob Good (R-Va.). On
He says that could lead to a Democrat getting the gavel or even someone outside of Congress.
“You don’t have to be in Congress to be the Speaker of the House, so it is a real possibility that this weakness could lead to somebody like a governor, Bill Richardson for example or a (Joe) Lieberman type,” said Reschenthaler.
Reschenthaler adds if that were to happen it would be first time in modern history the Speaker wasn't a member of the House. He says he supports McCarthy for Speaker
