A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Southern California Friday night, the second in less than two days, following the 6.4 that hit July 4.

Rattling nerves the size of the quake was not immediately diagnosed, but it was felt over a wide swath of the region.


An earthquake rattled a large swath of Southern California and parts of Nevada on Thursday morning, making hanging lamps sway and photo frames on wall shake. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
