Gomez took to Instagram to announce Mental Health 101, an educational campaign with her beauty brand Rare Beauty.

“This campaign is so close to my heart because of my own struggles with mental health,” Gomez wrote. “I know first hand how scary and lonely it can feel to face anxiety and depression by yourself at a young age. If I had learned about my mental health earlier on - been taught about my condition in school the way I was taught about other subjects - my journey could have looked very different.”

“I hope that Mental Health 101 will be the stepping stones for others that I wish I had,” Gomez continued. “To get connected to the resources they need, and to empower young people in ways that may not have been possible before.”

The initiative coincides with Mental Health Awareness month in May and is "dedicated to supporting mental health education and encouraging financial support for more mental health services in educational services.”

Gomez’s Rare Beauty launched the Rare Impact Fund on her 28th birthday with a goal of raising $100 million over the next 10 years to bring mental health resources to underserved communities.

Currently, 1% of annual sales on Rare Beauty products goes towards benefitting the fund. “The Rare Impact Fund will make a direct impact on many lives, and, ultimately, make a difference in the world,” Gomez said when the fund was launched.

Audacy's I’m Listening initiative aims to encourage those who are dealing with mental health issues to understand they are not alone. If you or anyone you know is struggling with depression or anxiety, know that someone is always there. Additionally, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-273-8255.
