SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KNX) — Sacramento's police chief confirmed officers arrested a man as part of an investigation of Sunday's deadly mass shooting that killed six adults and wounded at least 12 other people, according to a local news report Monday.

The department arrested and booked D'Andre Martin, 26, charging him for gun possession by a "prohibited person," Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Lester told KCRA Monday.

Lester cautioned that police's search for shooters was still ongoing and that investigators could not yet conclude how he was connected to the mass casualty incident. Police believe there were multiple shooters Sunday night.

"This is a complex investigation, and we're looking for multiple suspects," the chief told reporter Ty Steele. "So we're currently working to identify what his role was the night of the shooting."

Crime scene investigators recovered more than 100 shell casings from the downtown area where the shooting occurred. Bullets struck several cars and buildings.

"We know that there were a lot of shots fired that night, hence the complexity of the investigation," Lester added.

The coroner's office identified the six victims Monday — Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21; Johntaya Alexander, 21; Devazia Turner, 29; Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32; Sergio Harris, 38; and Melinda Davis, 57.

The chief said homicide detectives and other investigators were reviewing recordings posted to social media and footage from police surveillance cameras.
